Quick review on Internet Revolution Egypt

An Egyptian young man, called Omar " Hard Mode " started Internet Revolution Egypt on Youtube and arranged it with his partner, " Ahmed ", then decided to declare it on an official page on Facebook in Dec17, 2013, " around 3 months ago " .. and it reached many people and today their official page ( ثورة الانترنت - Internet Revolution Egypt ) includes over +246k Likes/followers and still in increase.

The reasons of this -revolution- are summarized in the following:-

1. For the Egyptian not to be deceived.
2. Because internet companies greed and exploitation of their customers.
3. Because of poor and slow service and poor support.
4. Because of underestimating Egyptian people's mind, providing them with ridiculous offers.
They declared #ثورة_الانترنت (#internet_revolution)
So, in order to support their ideas, they made a comparison between the internet service in Egypt and the internet services in other countries around the world, which proved that the internet in Egypt is the worst ever; poor and slow service with high cost in return.
So, they set their demands summarized in the following:-
1. Reducing the cost with increasing the speed of the internet, like other countries; Arabian and European.
2. Cancel fair use "unfair use".
3. remove the clause " The company has the right to edit the speed and stop the service without returning to the client. " from the contract document.

Examples of internet price in Egypt with regard to other countries:-
  • Romania's top speed 1000MB costs leu59 = EGP125.
  • Morocco's lowest speed 4MB costs MAD99 = EGP84.
  • Palestine, 12MB costs ILS175 = EGP346.
  • USA, 5MB for free, just pay the price of machinery and installation = EGP1200.
While in Egypt, the top speed is 4MB and costs EGP380/month.

The Internet Revolution Egypt is still going on 'til today.
